Darkroom 101: C41 Colour Film Dev and Scan

Learn to develop and scan your own C41 colour film negatives in this hands-on workshop in our community darkroom.

In this 2.5-hour immersive workshop, learn how to develop colour film with C41 chemicals to take control of every step of your analog photography. Participants will receive hands-on instruction and guidance to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to develop their own film. From loading the film onto reels to processing it using the proper techniques, this workshop will provide a solid foundation for participants keen on developing their own film.

You will learn about the equipment and chemicals required for film development, followed by step-by-step instruction on loading film onto reels, the film development process, including agitation and development times, and how to troubleshoot common issues during film development. The session will conclude by learning how to scan and archiving film using our DSLR scanning set up.

All materials are included and no prior experience in film photography or film development is required.

Participants are required to bring 1 roll of exposed 35mm or 1 roll of medium format / 120 film.
