Ceramic Artist Talk: Jane McCulla

From her studio in Diamond Harbour, Jane creates textured, stretched, stoneware clay forms - fluid textures suggesting geology, archaeology and mankind’s marks on the landscape, fluxed over time.

Graduating in 2006 with a 1st Class BA Hons in Fine and Applied Art at the University of Ulster, Belfast, Northern Ireland, Jane immigrated to NZ in 2009. Jane teaches classes and workshops throughout NZ and undertake private and public commissions.

From her studio in Diamond Harbour, Jane creates textured, stretched, stoneware clay forms - fluid textures suggesting geology, archaeology and mankind’s marks on the landscape, fluxed over time.

In 2017 she completed a seven-week residency at The Pottery Workshop, Jingdezhen, China. Her ceramics have been in various publications and exhibited in both solo and national shows in London, UK, Ireland and NZ.

Pieces are held in both private and public collections worldwide. Awards received include a Portage Merit Award in 2013.
