Gabby O’Connor and Adele Jackson have a passion for Antarctica and the natural world. In this talk, they share the stage to show how Antarctica and concepts of interconnection have influenced their ideas and practice.

O’Connor has worked in Antarctica twice, on both occasions she was embedded within an ocean physics research team. Her collaborative trans-disciplinary approach fuses science, art and education.

O’Connor seamlessly and simultaneously weaves together and reveals the interconnections between human relationships with and understandings of the natural world. Her recent work has included an examination of sea ice platelet formation, ocean dynamics and sea level rise.

Jackson has worked in Antarctica over several summer seasons in roles including heritage site base leader, conservation team field assistant, expedition photographer and nature guide.

Her Antarctic artwork explores the interconnectivity between earth systems, and human engagement with and impact on the natural world.
