Every month the Canterbury Horticultural Society Events Committee secures an interesting speaker for the morning and evening meetings.

This is followed by Gardening Half Hour, an informative session hosted by Michael Coulter.

The sessions are held on the first Monday and Tuesday of every month.

  • Monday 7pm to 9pm
  • Tuesday 9.30am to 11.30am

Join us at The Kiosk for a friendly meeting of like-minded gardeners and horticultural enthusiasts.

Our June speaker is Luke Martin

Luke Martin – Collection Curator of the New Zealand plant collection at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens talks about his recent travels to New Zealand's Subantarctic Islands.

Luke will share with us some of his highlights of the flora and fauna he encountered on these faraway islands rich with history.

Our July speaker is Matt Morris

Matt Morris – Author of Common Ground: Garden Histories of Aotearoa

While a lot of gardening books focus on the grand plantings of wealthy citizens, Matt Morris explores the historical processes behind humble gardens created and maintained by ordinary people.

Our August speaker is Hayley Guglietta

Lover of the planet Earth and all that co-exists on it.
