2021 Festival of Brass

The Christchurch Town Hall will resonate with the sound of brass as 37 brass bands from around New Zealand compete for the title of National Champions.

The 2021 Festival of Brass brings New Zealand's best brass and percussion musicians, of all ages, to the magnificent Christchurch Town Hall complex for a week of competition events.

Many of the events are free of charge.

So come along and sample the solo and ensemble events on Wednesday and Thursday, the Parade of Bands on Friday lunchtime around Victoria Square and on-stage band events on Friday and Saturday.

Special ticketed events include An Evening of Melody at 8pm Wednesday in the James Hay Theatre. Here the very best soloists' melodic sounds will amaze you while you relax at cabaret table seating.

The festival concludes on Sunday at 2pm with Contrasts in Brass, a concert featuring the National Band of New Zealand's virtuosity and the versatility of the New Zealand Army Band.
