Proposed Temporary Road Closures for City to Surf

The Council has received applications for the temporary closures of the following roads, for the following events, on the dates and times shown below.

City to Surf

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Cathedral Square, between Colombo Street and Worcester Street 
  • Colombo Street, between Cathedral Square and Kilmore Street
  • Worcester Boulevard, between Cathedral Square and Oxford Terrace

Proposed period of closures:

  • 6am to 12pm Sunday 20 March 2022

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Barbadoes Street, between Kilmore Street and Salisbury Street
  • Cambridge Terrace, between 281 Cambridge Terrace and Manchester Street
  • Fitzgerald Ave, between Harvey Terrace and Kilmore Street
  • Hurley Street, entire length
  • Kilmore Street, between Barbadoes Street and Madras Street
  • Madras Street, between Armagh Street and Peterborough Street
  • Manchester Street, between Armagh Street and Kilmore Street
  • Nova Place, entire length
  • Oxford Terrace, between Colombo Street and Manchester Street
  • Oxford Terrace, between Kilmore Street and Willow Street
  • Willow Street, entire length

Proposed period of closures:

  • 8am to 10am Sunday 20 March 2022

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Avonside Drive, between Retreat Road (West end) and Retreat Road (East end)
  • New Brighton Road, between Bassett Street and Owles Terrace
  • Pratt Street, between Keyes Road and New Brighton Road
  • Wainoni Road, between SH74 Anzac Drive and New Brighton Road

Proposed period of closures:

  • 9am to 12pm Sunday 20 March 2022

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Keyes Road, between Lonsdale Street and Rawson Street

Proposed period of closure:

  • 9am to 2pm Sunday 20 March 2022

These closures are proposed to be made under paragraph 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974. The proposed closures will apply to all vehicular traffic with the exception of emergency services vehicles, scheduled public transport services, trams and vehicles directly involved with the event.

No resident access will be available during the periods of these proposed closures.

Any person who wishes to object to the proposed closures may do so in writing to the Council Secretary, Christchurch City Council, PO Box 73016, Christchurch, no later than 3.00pm Wednesday 23 February 2022.
