The Council has approved the temporary closures of the following roads, for the following events, on the dates and times shown
Matariki Fireworks Spectacular 2021
Roads to be closed
- Beresford St, between Marine Parade and Owles Terrace
- Brighton Mall, between Beresford Street and Union Street
- Collingwood Street, between Owles Terrace and Union Street
- Hardy Street, between Owles Terrace and Seaview Road
- Marine Parade, between Hawke Street and Hood Street
- New Brighton Road, between Pratt Street and Hawke Street
- Oram Avenue, between Beresford Street and Hood Street
- Seaview Road, between Owles Terrace and Union Street
- Shaw Avenue, between Hawke Street and Seaview Road
- Union Street, between Beresford Street and Hood Street
- Mafeking Street, entire length.
Period of closures
- From 4pm to 9.30pm Saturday, 10 July 2021
and the rain day contingency of
- from 4pm to 9.30pm Sunday, 11 July 2021
Brass Band National Championships
Roads to be closed
- Armagh Street, between 85 Armagh Street and Colombo Street
- Colombo Street, between Kilmore Street and Gloucester Street
Period of closures
- From 11am to 3pm Friday, 16 July 2021
These closures are to be made under paragraph 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974. These closures will apply to all vehicular traffic with the exception of emergency service vehicles, and vehicles directly involved with the event.
No resident access will be available during the period of these closures.
