Is something bugging you?
Have you noticed a blocked culvert, a pothole, a water leak or a dirty toilet? There are a couple of ways for reporting these and other issues - the new Snap Send Solve app is a great way to report problems or you can use the Council website: www.ccc.govt.nz or phone 0800 800 169 or 941 8999.

Council Office
Our new Council office is open at 40d Rue Lavaud, Akaroa - in the former picture gallery opposite the Presbyterian Church. Drop in to pay your dog registration, slipway licence or do any other Council business. This is only a temporary situation. Community opinion on the future of the service centre has been clear and staff will now proceed with the repair and refurbishment of the old service centre.

What’s rubbish?
Our Love Your Rubbish team would like you to think about how you are recycling your rubbish. Putting the wrong items in recycling bins can cost the Council considerably more in dumping fees. Watch what you are putting in the recycling bin - no onion bags, plastic bags with coloured labels etc. Advice on sorting your rubbish is available on the Council website at www.ccc.govt.nz or at your local service centre.

Are you ready?
Recently you should have received a Get Ready brochure about preparing for a disaster. Our Civil Defence team in Akaroa is meeting monthly and attending training sessions. Play your part by having your emergency kit ready, remembering that we might be on our own for some time after a disaster.

PUBLIC SESSIONS - CONSULTATION

There are a few things happening at the moment that affect our patch:

Bridge Access Proposal
Lake Forsyth/Wairewa Artificial Opening Consent - A drop-in session has been held and a consultation leaflet circulated. Comments need to be in by 5pm on Thursday 23 July

Coastal Hazards
Sea level rise - tsunami - coastal erosion
A presentation and Q&A session will be held on Thursday 23 July at the Akaroa Sports Complex from 6pm to 8pm.
This is an important issue facing our seaside communities. Come along to find out more, and watch for an opportunity to have your say through the District Plan Review and the Councils Natural Hazards Strategy.

District Plan Review - Stage 3
A community drop-in session is being held on Thursday 20 August at the Akaroa Sports Complex from 3.30pm to 6.30pm
