Lantern parade lights up Christchurch

The 25th annual KidsFest got off to a spectacular start on Saturday with a lantern parade through Christchurch's city centre.

Rugged up warm against the chilling cold, children and adults armed with all manner of lanterns paraded from Cathedral Square to the Margaret Mahy Family Playground.

At the end of the parade the night sky was lit up with a stunning fireworks display.
