Join the countdown to 2023 at Hagley Park this New Year’s Eve.

The free NYE22 event gets underway at 6pm with food trucks and family-friendly entertainment, and concludes with a massive midnight fireworks display.

Local performers 1 Drop Nation, covers band Black & Gold, and rising star Sam Heselwood are taking the stage ahead of headline act Dragon.

The NZ Music Hall of Fame inductees are famous for smash hits like April Sun in CubaAre You Old Enough?, and Rain.

Dragon fans are in for a special treat, with an opportunity to meet and greet the rock legends and attend sound check.

Here’s what you need to know about attending NYE22

  • NYE22 is an alcohol-free, smoke-free and vape-free event.
  • There is a temporary liquor ban in place for Hagley Park from 31 Dec 2022 – 1 Jan 2023
  • There will be food trucks in North Hagley Park from 6pm providing great food alongside the top music entertainment.
  • There will be a special kids’ countdown at 8pm, so young ones can take part in the fun without staying out late.
  • People should not bring any glass into the park.
  • There will be a drop-off point on Rolleston Avenue, near Christ’s College.
  • Bike stands will be located inside the Armagh Street entrance to Hagley Park.
  • Scooter parking will be available on Park Terrace.
  • Mobility parking will be on Chester Street West for those displaying a mobility pass.
  • The Botanic Gardens Armagh Street bridge will be closed to incoming traffic from 3:30pm.
