Christchurch City Council is meeting at 9.30am on Thursday 13 August. The main items on the agenda for the public part of the meeting are:

  • Reports from all the Community Boards outlining the major issues and projects in the areas.
  • A report from the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board that recommends the Council introduce a 30kmh speed limit on the central section of Riccarton Road. The report also recommends the Council lower the speed limit on some of the side roads between Riccarton Road and Riccarton Bush.
  • A report that recommends the Council establish a Coastal Hazards Working Group to support the Urban Development and Transport Committee with the delivery of the two upcoming projects relating to coastal hazards and adapting to climate change.
  • A report on the Christchurch Innovation Ecosystem. In the report it is recommended the Council do no further work on a proposal that a property development put forward to establish a new innovation incubator hub in the former IRD building.
  • A report that seeks Council’s approval for up to $30,000 of the 2020/21 Annual Plan Heritage Grants fund being distributed as Christchurch Heritage Festival Community Grants.
  • A report which recommends the Council classify the Lincoln Road (Wrights Road to Curletts Road) Passenger Transport project as a project of Metropolitan Significance and delegate decision making on it to the Urban Development and Transport Committee.
  • A report that recommends the Council confirm the termination of the current first hour free parking offer at Council’s Lichfield Street and Christchurch Art Gallery parking buildings at midnight on 31 August 2020. The Council introduced the offer in May to support  central city retail and hospitality businesses recovering from the COVID-19 lockdown over the winter months.
