Council updates  |  5 Apr 2019

Christchurch City Council is meeting on Thursday, 11 April. The main items on the agenda for the public part of the meeting are:

  • Reports from all the Community Boards outlining the major issues and projects in their areas.
  • A report from the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board recommending the Council adopt the name Te Papa Kura Redcliffs Park for the new park on the site of the former Redcliffs School.
  • A report from the Innovation and Sustainable Development Committee which recommends the Council form a working group of Councillors to support the climate change strategy and action plans. The report also recommends the Council establish by September 2019 a net carbon neutral target for Christchurch as a whole.
  • A report outlining options for addressing water quantity and quality for the Christchurch groundwater zone, including a water conservation order.
  • A report outlining progress on the well head security improvement programme.
  • A report which recommends the Council makes a grant of $31,000 to Heathcote Valley Community Association from the Community Resilience Partnership Fund for the first year of the Community Centre Activator initiative.
  • A report which recommends the Council approve a grant of $13,500 from its Metropolitan Discretionary Response Fund to Aviva Charitable Trust so it can support Child Protection Champions in our local communities.
  • A report from the Regulatory Performance Committee recommending the Council impose a temporary alcohol ban on Council-owned rugby league playing fields and adjoining carparks during the rugby league season.
  • A report from the Regulatory Performance Committee recommending the Council request the Minister for Greater Christchurch Regeneration use Seciton 71 of the Greater Christchurch Regeneration Act to amend the District Plan in relation to the slope instability overlays on the Port Hills and the parking provisions in Lyttelton town centre.
  • A report from the Social, Community Development and Housing Committee recommending the Council allow a 16-metre tall sculpture, commissioned by  SCAPE Public Art, to be installed in Rauora Park, a public space that runs between Armagh and Lichfield Streets.
  • A report with the Hearings Panel's recommendations for the baches on the publicly-owned unformed legal road at Taylors Mistake, Boulder Bay and Hobsons Bay.
