The first week of summer will be the first week back for Jellie Park’s recently repaired outdoor pool, with its reopening planned for Monday, 3 December.

“It’s been a busy 12 months at Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre as we’ve powered through several upgrades and earthquake repairs,” Christchurch City Council Head of Recreation, Sports and Events Nigel Cox says.

The upgraded outdoor area at Jellie Park will reopen in December.

The upgraded outdoor area at Jellie Park will reopen in December.

“The reopening of the outdoor pools and hydroslide is the perfect way to celebrate the end of the first phase of work,” he says.

The reopening means Jellie Park can join the rest of the Council’s outdoor pools for the Summer Pool Party season, beginning with the “School’s Out” event on Saturday, 15 December.

“We’ve also upgraded the entire outdoor area, so those summer days out in the sun at Jellie Park that we’re all familiar with will be even better, starting this year,” Mr Cox says.

Jellie Park’s updated sauna, steam room and spa are open, along with the new indoor hydroslide.

Work will now start on the change rooms, toilets, reception foyer and cafe, with the upgrade due to be completed in April next year.
