Christchurch’s Nurse Maude Hospice is $70,000 better off thanks to the people who visited House of Travel Botanic D’Lights.
More than 136,000 people took in the colourful light installations in the Botanic Gardens and the Arts Centre of Christchurch last week while also making donations to the hospice.
Christchurch City Council Events and Arts Manager Karena Finnie praised the generosity of the people of Christchurch.
“The support for the hospice via the gold coin entry donation has been quite remarkable, and much appreciated,” she said. “House of Travel Botanic D’Lights has provided the perfect opportunity to connect with the charitable heart of our city.”
House of Travel Upper Riccarton Managing Director Dalwyn Sinclair said he was overwhelmed by the community patronage of the event which also supported a vital service in our region. “Our staff and business owners collecting for Nurse Maude Hospice during the event were humbled by the experience.”
Nurse Maude Hospice General Manager of Marketing Sue Bramwell said it was "beyond doubt an outstanding success".
"The generosity of the people of Canterbury saw more than $70,000 raised for the Nurse Maude Hospice so we can continue providing care free of charge to our patients."
