The Christchurch Adventure Park is on a mission to help the community in the coming weeks.

Throughout August staff at the Park will be donating their time to help out with some sort of community or charity project every week.

Staff at the Christchurch Adventure Park are offering their services to community groups.

“This is about living our values and giving back to the community that supports us,” says Christchurch Adventure Park General Manager Anne Newman.

“It is something that has always been part of our philosophy and we are consistently doing work in the community or for charities that we support, such as running mountain bike skills sessions for local schools and youth groups,’’ Ms Newman says.

When the park was closed after the Port Hills fires, staff assisted the Christchurch City Mission with life skill classes for their residents, cooked meals at Ronald McDonald House and worked with the likes of Chomondley to provide a fun day out for kids in their care.

“This August is a bit different though, for that month we are dedicating time every week to send staff out of the park to help out in the community,’’ Ms Newman says.

“We are asking people to contact us with their project ideas, and each week we will select one to get involved with. The projects could be adventure or bike related, but equally they could be completely unrelated to our usual work.

“We are happy to wield shovels, don aprons, brandish a paintbrush or simply lend an ear and some time to those who need it,’’ Ms Newman says.

Charities and community groups with projects that could use a bit of additional manpower are asked to contact helpinghand@christchurchadventurepark.com.
