Step 1. Book a no obligation home energy check

Book a home energy check and a friendly advisor can visit your home and talk with you about ways to improve the health and energy efficiency of your home. 

This service is available to all Christchurch homeowners and is provided by Community Energy Action.

This expert advice will be tailored to your needs and be specific to your home.

All our assessors wear photo identification and will provide you with detailed verbal and written advice about:

  • Insulation
  • Heating
  • Ventilation and moisture control
  • Windows and curtains
  • Draft stopping
  • Glazing
  • Water heating
  • Smoke alarms

You have no obligation to undertake any of the recommendations provided by your advisor. If you choose to undertake work you should compare prices from different companies. You can also ask your advisor about what financial support is available.

Warmer Kiwi Homes

For homeowners, Community Service or Gold Card/Community Service Combo holders, in qualifying areas, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) offers subsidies between 80% and 90% for ceiling and underfloor insulation and an efficient heat pump or wood burner.

EECA also have helpful guides and tools for saving energy in the home.

Help from your bank

Many banks now offer home loan top-ups and subsidies to help you improve the health and energy efficiency of your home. 

If you have a mortgage with one of the following banks, you may be able to add the cost of insulating your home to your mortgage.
