New Zealand ShakeOut is a national earthquake drill taking place at 9:15am, Thursday 15 October 2015.
ShakeOut is a chance for everyone in New Zealand to practise the right action to take during an earthquake, Drop Cover Hold. It's also an opportunity for Canterbury to lead the way and show the rest of the country, new migrants and young children that we take preparedness seriously.
So far more than 900,000 New Zealanders have signed up to take part. We’re aiming to get 1.5 million, which should also make ours the biggest (per capita) ShakeOut drill in the world!
Sign up to take part at www.shakeout.govt.nz. It only takes two minutes and the website has lots of tips and information for doing the drill and being prepared.
