Your green kerbside wheelie bin is for your food and garden waste and is collected weekly.

What can go in your organics bin:

  • All food waste.
  • Garden waste.

Food waste can be wrapped in newspaper before placing it in your organics bin. You can also use paper to line your bin to help keep it clean.

Fruit.Vegetables.Meat and bone.Fish.
Bread, pastries and flours.Prunings, cuttings and branches.Weeds.Lawn clippings.
Leaves.Tea bags.Dairy products.Cut flowers.

What can’t go in your organics bin:

  • Animal waste
  • Ash (hot or cold)
  • Bricks and concrete
  • Cigarette butts
  • Clothing, fabric and shoes
  • Flax, bamboo and cabbage tree leaves
  • Gas bottles
  • Glass
  • Leather items
  • Metal
  • Nappies
  • Oversized material
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Pesticides, herbicides and fungicides
  • Plastic and plastic bags (including bio-degradable & compostable plastic)
  • Rubber
  • Rubbish
  • Sawdust
  • Soil
  • Stones and gravel
  • Timber and off-cuts
  • Tin foil
  • Wire or timber trellising.
