Ferry Road – north side works

What

Woolston Village upgrade: we’re streetscaping along the north side of Ferry Road.

Why

We’re upgrading Woolston Village and part of Ferry Road. This will make the village a safer and more attractive place to walk, bike and drive.

Where

We’re working on the north side of Ferry Road, between Portman Street and St Johns Street.

When

Work will start on 5 January 2021 and is expected to be completed by 2 March 2021 (weather dependent). Work will be undertaken between Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm.

What are we doing?

From Tuesday 5 January 2021, two streetscaping teams will continue working along the north side of Ferry Road between Portman Street and St Johns Street.

  • We’ll remove and rebuild the kerb and gutters, making the road narrower in some areas and wider in others
  • We’ll rebuild the road shoulders and will pave and asphalt the footpaths
  • We’ll also install new street furniture, cycle stands, and rubbish bins and build the garden and tree beds which will be planted next winter

Traffic, parking and pedestrians

  • Parking is available behind Woolston Library
  • Another option is to park on Glenroy Street and follow the signs to the shops as there is a temporary walkway from Glenroy Street to the community library
  • Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained at all times
  • The temporary bus stop outside New World will move around our work sites. A stop will always be available on the north side of Ferry Road between Portman Street and St Johns Street
