Simeon Quay - Lyttelton Harbour Wastewater Project

What

We’re sharing an update on how work is going on the Simeon Quay pump station.

Why

To connect Lyttelton Harbour’s wastewater to the main Christchurch system.

Where

Simeon Quay, Lyttelton.

When

Work will start Monday 11 March 2019 and will run for approximately 12 months.

Contact

The contractor is Fulton Hogan. Phone 0800 275 342 or email cant.info@fultonhogan.com between 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Advise us if you have specific property access requirements e.g medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, planned works.

How are we tracking?

The project is on track and our team finished building the wet well. This will house the submersible pumps that will power the pump station.

What is coming up?

From Monday 21 October 2019 for approximately three weeks, we will be installing wastewater pipes on site.

We need to install pipelines from the Simeon Quay pump station to the Cashin Quay pump station and to Lyttelton tunnel.

Part of this work will require us to install new pipes under the road on Simeon Quay.

To minimise disruption to traffic, we’ll do this work at night.

We plan to start this work in four weeks. The work will run from Sunday nights through to Thursday nights for around three weeks.

Traffic management and a stop/go system will be in place on Simeon Quay near the roundabout between 8pm and 6am.

What will our work look like?

We’ll be trenching through the road with a digger and using a hydro excavator at times.

There will be light, noise, and machinery on site, but we aim to minimise disruption as much as possible.

We expect to start building the pump station’s foundations towards the end of 2019, and start constructing the building early 2020.
