New Brighton Clock Structural Repairs

What

The clock tower will undergo earthquake and historical maintenance related repairs.

Why

The clock tower has damage that is the result of a combination of earthquake, historical and environmental factors. Built in the 1930’s, the towers have withstood more than 90 years of exposure to a harsh coastal environment, which has resulted in substantial structural damage, including corrosion to structural steel. The clock faces are also being repaired.

Marine Parade, in front of the New Brighton Library.

When

Work will start Monday 15 July 2019 for approximately six (6) months.

  • The clock tower will be closed to the public for the duration of the works.
  • Please adhere to site signage.
  • Work will occur on site between the hours of 7.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Works will be completed by the end of December 2019 in time for Summer.
  • Pedestrian detours will be in place.
  • Please refer to signage on site and follow the instructions of the site crew during vehicle movements.
  • The library will remain open from 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4.00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Salt on the Pier will also remain open from 8.30am to 4.00pm daily.
