Marriner Street & Wakefield Avenue Enhancement Works from the Sumner Village Master Plan

What

We are building new road surfaces, kerbs, footpaths, stormwater drains, landscaping, and adding feature paving. At the same time we will be replacing 33 metres of sewerage pipes on Burgess Street and 100 metres of water mains on Wakefield Avenue. The old sewer and water pipes are at the end of their life span and need replacing before new surfaces and landscaping are installed above them.

Why

These enhancement works will improve the functionality, safety, connectivity and amenity of Sumner village by providing new street furniture, landscaped areas, cycle lanes, a paved shared space and crossing points, wider footpaths, road narrowing, and a slower speed environment.

Where

Road surfacing and landscaping: Marriner Street and Wakefield Avenue between the Sumner Surf Lifesaving Club and the skateboard ramp.
Sewerage replacement: 33 metres along Burgess Street from the Wakefield Avenue Intersection.
Water main replacement: On Wakefield Avenue between Own Masala and the skateboard ramp.

When

19 March 2019 to 31 October 2019. This allows for six months construction and extra time for weather delays and variations
