MCR Northern Line - cycleway construction

Construction of a cycleway.

Our network of cycleways is making it safer and easier for people to cycle. More people cycling eases the pressure on roads.

Work started on 19 July 2021 and will finish mid October 2021. Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm (weather/site condition dependent).

The contractor is Sicon Ltd. Phone Stuart Lyons on 027 642 2826 between the work hours above.

  • The project involves the construction of a 750m shared path off Main North Road, from Styx Mill Road to Northwood Blvd.
  • The existing footpath will be deconstructed, widened, and replaced with a new 3-metre-wide share path.
  • The construction works will be carried out primarily under a lane closer in non-peak traffic hours, (9am to 3pm) and a shoulder closer during peak hours (Between 7am to 9am and 3pm to 6pm).
  • The footpath will remain closed for the duration of the works and a pedestrian detour will be in place. This will run along Caleb Place and O’Neill Avenue.
