Details

We are starting Stage 1 of the Te Nukutai o Tapoa-Naval Point Development Plan. As part of the work we will be:

  • Establishing the site.
  • Upgrading the existing water main and storm water.
  • Making foreshore improvements.
  • Asphalting the car park and carrying out line marking.

Site access

  • There will be restricted access to the site while this work is carried out.
  • Access to the overflow boat trailer park will be removed. We expect the impact of this to be minimal over the winter months.
  • There will be no pedestrian access along the foreshore of the work area (see map). Access will be maintained along the walkway that runs on the south-side of the Lyttelton Recreation Grounds. This will be sign posted.
  • Access to the Naval Point haul out area and public boat ramp will be maintained during construction, until the haul out is moved off site.
  • Access to the public toilets will remain unaffected.

Construction Impacts

  • There will be increased noise, dust, light, and vibration levels that we will try to keep to a minimum.
  • Safety is our number one priority. Safety is your responsibility too. Stay clear and stay alert. Keep children and pets at a safe distance from the work site.

This work will enable the SailGP yachting event to be held in Whakaraupō-Lyttelton Harbour in January 2022.
