Description |
Start at the Sign of the Bellbird and follow a grassy track that passes in front of the shelter and toilet. Cross the stile at the start of the Orongomai Trail then follow the track as it zigzags down through bush past several track junctions. Below the Quarry Trail junction, the track becomes rougher and descends to a small stream. The lower part of the reserve has some of the best accessible forests in the Port Hills. At a stream confluence, the track starts climbing up beside the second stream, passing by several large totara and matai trees. Continue climbing steadily through predominantly kanuka forest and follow the signs back to the Sign of the Bellbird.
