Proposed temporary road closures for University of Canterbury graduation parades and SMART Christchurch Innovation Expo

The Council has received applications for the temporary closures of the following roads, for the following events, on the dates and times shown below.

University of Canterbury graduation parades

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Worcester Street, between Rolleston Avenue and Cambridge Terrace

Proposed periods of closure:

  • from 9.20am to 9.50am and from 1.20pm to 1.50pm, Wednesday 15 and Friday 17 December 2021

  • from 1.20pm to 1.50pm Thursday 16 December 2021


SMART Christchurch Innovation Expo

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Oxford Terrace, between Armagh Street and Gloucester Street
  • Gloucester Street, between Cambridge Terrace and Oxford Terrace

Proposed periods of closures:

  • From 7.00am to 5.00pm Sunday 31 October 2021 and Monday 1 November 2021

These closures are proposed to be made under paragraph 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974. The proposed closures will apply to all vehicular traffic with the exception of emergency service vehicles, Trams and vehicles directly involved with the events. 

No resident access will be available during the period of these proposed closures.

Any person who wishes to object to the proposed closures may do so in writing to the Council Secretary, Christchurch City Council, PO Box 73016, Christchurch, no later than 9.00am Thursday 23 September 2021.
