Banks Peninsula collection points
For Banks Peninsula residents not on the kerbside collection route, there are community collection points to take your rubbish and recycling to.
Some properties in Banks Peninsula receive the kerbside bin collection service to dispose of household rubbish, the same as residents in Christchurch. All other residents in Banks Peninsula can take their rubbish and recycling to community collection points.
Community collection points are for household quantities of rubbish and recycling only. Large items and commercial waste should be taken to a transfer station for proper disposal.
Please note: As a Bank Peninsula resident using the community collection points, you pay a reduced waste charge on your rates.
Using the community collection points
Please use the collection points appropriately by:
- Only disposing of items that are accepted at community collection points [PDF 244KB]
- dropping recycling items loose into the recycling skips provided
- putting all rubbish into a tied closed shopping bag before putting into the rubbish skips provided.
Hazardous waste can not be taken to community collection points and should be disposed of safely and appropriately.
Is the skip full?
If you notice that the rubbish or recycling skips at a community collection point are becoming full, please phone 0800 800 169 and we will organise for the skips to be emptied.
