Creative New Zealand creative communities funding scheme

Local arts funding (administered by the Christchurch City Council)

Purpose

The aim of the scheme is to increase participation in the arts at a local level, and increase the range and diversity of arts available to communities.

The scheme is a partnership between Creative New Zealand and the Christchurch City Council.

Eligible projects must:

  • Have an arts or cultural focus.
  • Take place within Christchurch and or benefit the city.
  • Benefit local communities.
  • Not have started before an application for funding has been assessed.
  • Not have been funded by Creative New Zealand creative communities funding scheme for the same purpose.
  • Projects must meet at least one of the following funding criteria:
    • increase participation in the arts at a local level
    • increase the range and diversity of arts at a local level
    • enhance and strengthen the local arts sector.

How to apply

Complete the application form which can be downloaded here or available in printed form at Council Service Centres or the Civic Offices.

Closing dates

There are two closing dates a year:

  • Last Friday in March (for projects commencing after 1 June that year).
  • Last Friday in September (for projects commencing after 1 December that year).
