Conference and Similar Events Bridging Loan Fund
Purpose
This fund is to assist with bidding for major international conferences and events and to provide, in some instances, small sponsorships for these events and conferences.
The Conference and Similar Events Bridging Loan Fund will provide bridging finance to organisers to allow them to promote, market and prepare initial requirements for major conferences and events - with the fund being repaid by first call on registrations.
Criteria and guidelines
- Applications will be considered by the Events Development Team before being recommended to the Council for approval.
- Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism will provide comments on applications.
- The main outcome of this fund is significant economic benefit to Christchurch.
- Priority will be given to conferences and events that use Christchurch City Council facilities (Town Hall, Convention Centre, sports and entertainment centre etc).
- The fund will be used predominantly for international conferences which will attract significant registrations.
- Any national conferences will need to be of a significant size and duration to justify support.
- All successful applicants will enter into an event loan agreement with the Christchurch City Council.
